Talk Directly to Shotgun ShotGrid now called Flow Production Tracking

Ask about your show in plain English. Get a straight answer.

“Who is working on Sparks”

Three people have tasks assigned on Sparks:

14 tasks
Katalina Williams
6 tasks
Peter Sidoriak (you)
5 tasks
Tram Le-Jones

Note that 79 of the project's 104 tasks have nobody assigned yet. Want me to break those down by step or status?

1 ShotGrid query

“What is Peter assigned to?”

You're assigned to 6 tasks on Sparks:

Comp (4)

spk_001_010

Three of the Comp tasks are past due as of today.

1 ShotGrid query

“What is due this week?”

Two tasks are due this week (Mon 14 – Sun 20 Sep) on Sparks:

Animation on spk_001_020
due Tue 2026-09-15, Final, unassigned
Comp on spk_001_020
due Thu 2026-09-17, In Progress, you

The Animation task is already finalled, so the only live item is your Comp on spk_001_020. Want me to also pull anything already overdue?

1 ShotGrid query

“Get the latest comp notes for spk_001_010”

spk_001_010 has 2 notes, one of which is on the Comp task:

Comp

Peter Sidoriak, 2026-04-03, Open
“Looks good, QC and Final”

The other note is on the FX task, in case it's relevant:

FX

Katalina Williams, 2026-03-15, Open
“The welding sparks themselves feel slightly uniform right now. Could we introduce a bit more randomness in size and trajectory so the burst feels less procedural and more chaotic?”

1 ShotGrid query

“get the latest notes on 001_10”

There's no shot coded 001_10 on Sparks. The closest match is spk_001_010, which is the shot I just pulled notes for. Its notes, newest first:

Peter Sidoriak, 2026-04-03, Comp
“Looks good, QC and Final”
Katalina Williams, 2026-03-15, FX
“The welding sparks themselves feel slightly uniform right now…”

If you actually meant a different shot, just say which.

Five answers from a real Gofer session, set as credits.

The answer's in there. Somewhere.

Gofer is a desktop assistant for VFX and animation crews, and every show runs through Flow Production Tracking: tasks, versions, notes, schedules. A simple question still turns into a trip through pages, filters and saved views, or a message to whoever knows where to look.

The usual way

  1. Projects
  2. Sparks
  3. Tasks

“What's due this week?”

Two tasks are due this week (Mon 14 – Sun 20 Sep) on Sparks…

1 question

Ask like you'd ask a teammate.

The Gofer app: a sidebar with project Sparks, ShotGrid and Claude connected and quick actions; the chat answers What is Peter assigned to, then the follow-up What is due this week.
Gofer 0.2.0b3, on a real Sparks test project.
  1. Gofer's sidebar: project Sparks selected, 7 projects (2 active), ShotGrid connected, Claude connected.

    Connect

Point Gofer at your Flow Production Tracking site and pick a model. Your project, connection status and quick actions sit in the sidebar.

  2. Gofer answering: Three people have tasks assigned on Sparks: Katalina Williams, 14 tasks; Peter Sidoriak (you), 6 tasks; Tram Le-Jones, 5 tasks.

    Ask

Type a question in plain English. Gofer works out which shots, tasks and people you mean, queries the database, and answers in a sentence you can actually read.

  3. Gofer answering the follow-up: Two tasks are due this week (Mon 14 – Sun 20 Sep) on Sparks.

    Follow up

It keeps the thread. Ask what Peter is assigned to, then “what's due this week?”, and Gofer knows you still mean Peter.

  4. Gofer listing two notes on spk_001_010, with 1 ShotGrid query shown under the answer.

    Check its work

Every answer lists the ShotGrid queries behind it, so you can see exactly where the numbers came from.

It answers. Then it does the work.

Gofer can act on what it finds. New actions are quick to add, so tell us what you'd want it to do next.

Good questions.

Does it work with Flow Production Tracking?

Yes. Flow Production Tracking is ShotGrid's new name, and Gofer connects to it.

Which platforms does it run on?

macOS, Windows and Linux.

Which AI models can I use?

Cloud models from Anthropic or OpenAI, using your own API key, which you add in Gofer's settings. We recommend Anthropic, which is also the default. Or run a local model through Ollama on your own hardware, with no key needed.

Can it change things in ShotGrid, or only answer?

It can act too. Today it can create playlists, open versions in Screening Room or RV, and assign tasks. More actions are easy to add, and we'd like to hear which ones you need.

Is Gofer made by Autodesk?

No. Gofer is an independent tool and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Autodesk.

What does it cost?

Gofer is in early access. Join the list and we'll share builds and plans as they're ready.

Can I help build it?

Please do. Tick “I'd like to collaborate” when you sign up, or email [email protected].
